Google seems to have been working on a new online resource called Internet Stats. From the site official introduction:
“This Google resource brings together the latest industry facts and insights. These have been collected from a number of third party sources covering a range of topics from macroscopic economic and media trends to how consumer behaviour and technology are changing over time.”
Google Internet Stats is categorized into five broad topics:
* Consumer Trends
* Macro Economic Trends
* Media Consumption
* Media Landscape
Each of these subjects are further sub-categorized into various aspects as well. For instance the technology cluster is further subdivided into Broadband, Speed, Devices, and Mobile. You can simply click on the sub-topics to get the available statistical data or use the site-wide search box.
Google has also listed the third-party vendors where the statistical data all came from. These include the likes of comScore, PriceWaterHouseCoppers, Nielsen and all the other stats vendors.
One good thing to note about the Google Internet Stats is the fact that most of the statistical data are pretty updated. Although the depth of information is not that comprehensive yet.
While awaiting any official announcement from Google about this statistical center, you might want to check it out and see for yourselves whether it will be of any use. You can check out the Google Internet Stats from this link : http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/landing/internetstats/
